I was looking for the words quoted by AR Rahman when he received his little-gold-man (which I later finally found) and then I came across this short clip + news happening in Korea - a 68-year-old South Korean woman fails her written driving exam 775 times but still hopes to succeed in order to start her own business (news available here).
68 years old, 775 unsuccessful attempts, still never give up.
Now I do not know what really keeps her from succeeding to getting a driving license. Here is the point of ponder:
(1) If she never find out why she failed and improve the short backs, these attempts were only meant to show one thing - stubbornness is not doing any good. Persistence is good, but it does not mean repeating the mistake itself will make thing right. You've got to know where and how you fail so that you can be successful.
(2) If she learns from her mistakes and keep improving herself, these attempts are definitely the path she travels to arrive at success in the end (which we may not know whether is going to be the 776th attempt or more to come, but it is her spirit that matter).
Much like Thomas Alva Edison who has his attitude high "I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work".
The story of this 68-year-old lady is definitely a motivation to me.
Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration. ~ Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931)
